Autumn 2011 901

The clock tower atop Eastern Kentucky University’s historic Keen Johnson Building.

Built in1939 by the WPA, the Keen Johnson Building was originally the student union at Eastern Kentucky State Teachers College. Today, it is Eastern Kentucky University’s faculty club and is also used for receptions and banquets.  The Colonial Revival building with its slate roof and distinctive octagonal cupola was named after former Kentucky governor, Keene Johnson. Inside, you’ll find an alumni hall of fame which includes none other than the Six MillIon Dollar Man, Lee Majors. I’m not kidding!

The Keen Johnson Building and its clock tower are a focal point of the Campus Beautiful.  And the Campus Beautiful just happens to be where I’m starting my morning.

Happy Monday!!
